About

BRIEF

Protection of the environment from pollution which was the core objectives of the establishment when the founders had it as premonition that the endangering activities of some Ghanaians will pollute the environment to make life unbearable, decided to become waste management company to fight for pollution free environment and to save Ghanaians for that matter.

Presank was established in 1996 with minor operations under a mango tree with only three (3) workers at Suame Magazine in Kumasi. Because we were located at Magazine where plenty fitting shops were operational, the possibility of spillage was very high so we placed containers at vantage point and advised the populace to put all waste oil inside them. There were no offices let alone equipment to carry out our operations administratively. All waste oil collected was sent to Tema Steel Works.

In 2004, we decided to bring recognition to the establishment by registering it with the Registrar of Business names as an enterprise. Still, effort had to be made in 2005 to obtain a permit from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which enabled us operate fully as waste management company.

The year 2006 saw a tremendous increase staff numbers from the initial three (3) to Ten (10). As the business kept growing, our scope of services also widened to include handling of scrap metals, de-silting of choked gutters and sewage services. This time our operations were extended to Bogoso Gold Ltd, AngloGold Ashanti- Iduapriem and Africa Mining Services-Darmang.

We have offices, stores, training centre and re-fuelling centre for our vehicles. Other facilities include installation of two oil and water separators.

Through the effort of our dedicated workers, we had contract at Newmont Ghana Gold to remove, transport and dispose domestic waste from Ahafo sit to Kumasi engineered landfill. Later another contract was awarded us to transport sludge off-site to Kumasi Landfill. Our relationship with Newmont Ghana Gold grew to a point that they included us in their program dubbed ‘Local Suppliers Development Component for the Ahafo Linkages Program to beef up, streamline and polish our operations worth of a company and it was spearheaded by Technoserve; a consulting firm for Newmont. Through this program, we got to know how to keep records, organise toolbox meetings, payment of income tax to raise revenue for the Government, payment of SNNIT for our workers and general management of the Business.

Now the company has broadened its scope of work to cover waste oil recycling, management of refrigerators for energy commission, construction and civil works, management of contaminated soil, management of expired chemicals, supply of industrial rags to various industries, de-silting of heavy duty washing bays and dams, supply and management of mobile toilet, incineration and management of hospital waste etc.
